Heart Pastry Twists with Cheddar & Jam

These Heart Pastry Twists featuring Vat 17 World Cheddar are the perfect sweet-and-savory treat to celebrate Valentine’s Day—or anyone you love, any time of year. They’re also a fun, hands-on recipe to make with your kids, your sweetheart, or your best friends.

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed

  • 3–4 oz Vat 17 World Cheddar, shredded

  • 3-4 tablespoons raspberry jam

  • 5–6 sprigs fresh thyme, leaves removed

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. On a lightly floured surface, unfold one sheet of puff pastry. Evenly spread the raspberry jam over the surface, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle with shredded cheese and thyme leaves.

  3. Unfold the second sheet of puff pastry and gently place it on top. Lightly press down to seal.

  4. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the pastry into thin strips (about 16 strips total). Twist each strip several times, then bring the ends together and pinch to form a heart shape. Place on the prepared baking sheets and adjust the shape as needed.

  5. Beat the egg and brush the tops of each pastry with egg wash.

  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
