What kind of milk is your cheese made with?

Our cheeses are all made with fresh cow’s milk, except The Indigo Bunting which is a combination of fresh sheep’s milk and cow’s cream.

Can I order your cheese online?

Yes. You can order online via iGourmet through the button in our navigation bar. You can also find our cheeses featured in gift boxes by Williams Sonoma and Crate & Barrel, featured on boards by CheeseBoarder, and available on other online stores.

Can I purchase cheese directly from you?

No. In order to support the art of cheese mongering and local businesses, we do not sell directly to consumers. Please ask your local specialty grocer or cheese shop to order the product that you are interested in if they do not have it in stock.

Do you offer coupons?

No, we do not.

How can I get my local store to carry it?

The best way to get your store to carry the cheese is to ask your retailer.  Cheese professionals at store level would love to get your feedback on products you love.  It is a great way for the store to learn about products they currently do not carry.

Can I freeze your cheese?

Yes, you can. However, freezing cheese oftentimes changes the original flavor and texture of the cheeses. so we do not recommended that you place them in your freezer for long term storage.

Are Deer Creek cheeses made from grass-fed cow’s milk?

No, Deer Creek cheeses are not produced with only grass-fed cow’s milk.  Deer Creek cheeses are made in Wisconsin, the leading state in cheese production. Due to the harsh winters, many farmers feed their cows a mixture of haylage, corn silage, proteins, ground corn, and dry hay when grass is hidden under a layer of snow. Cows are on pasture to graze during the summer months when the grass is green and plentiful.

Are Deer Creek cheeses organic?

No, Deer Creek cheeses are not certified organic.

Are Deer Creek cheeses made from rBST-free milk?

All Deer Creek cheeses are made from rBST-free milk, except our current vats of 5 Year Private Reserve and 7 Year Proprietor’s Grand Reserve.

Are Deer Creek cheeses gluten free?

Yes, Deer Creek cheeses are gluten free.

Are Deer Creek cheeses GMO-free?

Deer Creek suppliers certify that the ingredients in our quality cheeses have not been genetically modified or bioengineered as defined in 7 CFR part 66 or European Union Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003, (EC) No 1830/2003.

Are Deer Creek cheeses vegetarian?

Yes. Our cheeses are made with vegetarian rennet, not animal rennet.

Are Deer Creek cheeses made in Wisconsin?

YES! All Deer Creek cheeses are made in Wisconsin, the leading state in cheese production and the state that holds more awards for cheese than any other state or country in the world.

Visit our Where To Buy page to see where you can find Deer Creek near you! Please note that not all locations listed will have every one of our cheeses available. We recommend calling the store you would like to visit to see if they have your favorite in stock.

How long does the cheese last in my refrigerator unopened?

All of our precut/exact weight items have date codes listed on their packages. If you have purchased a cheese that was hand cut and wrapped by your local store, we suggest enjoying it within 10 days of purchase, if not sooner.

How long do I have to consume the cheese after it is opened?

We recommended that you enjoy the cheese within 8-10 days after opening the package.
