Homemade Apple Sauce

A simple childhood favorite becomes a rustic, autumnal dessert when Homemade Apple Sauce is paired with gingersnaps and our 5 Year Aged Cheddar. This warm and comforting recipe will be something you look forward to every apple season!

What You’ll Need:

  • 1/2 to 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • 4 cups of a variety of peeled apples, cut into chunks (about 5-6 apples)

  • 1/2 cup apple cider or apple juice

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • Pinch of salt

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients to a medium saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover and reduce to a simmer. Simmer for 20 minutes.

  2. Remove the pan from heat. Using a potato masher, gently crush the apples. Leave some larger chunks for a more rustic texture.

  3. Let cool slightly before serving or storing in the refrigerator.
