makes approximately 1 cup

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 cups The Doe, shredded

  • 1 tablespoon flour

  • 1/2 cup Chardonnay

  • 2 teaspoons Grand Marnier

  • Dash of allspice

  • 1 round loaf of whole wheat or white bread, hollowed out for a bread bowl

  • Blackberries, strawberries, chocolate covered pretzels, ladyfingers, shortbread, etc. for dipping

Directions:

  1. Shred 2 cups (approximately 8 oz. ) of The Doe. Toss the flour with the cheese and set it aside.

  2. To make the bread bowl, cut the top off of the loaf of bread and remove the bread from the interior of the loaf. Save the pieces from the inside of the loaf for dipping.

  3. In a small saucepan heat the Chardonnay over medium heat until it begins to bubble lightly, but not to the point of boiling. Add the cheese and flour mixture, whisking until the fondue is smooth and begins to bubble lightly. Remove the fondue from the heat and whisk in the Grand Marnier and allspice.

  4. Pour the fondue into the bread bowl or another serving bowl and serve with fruit, cookies, and bread for dipping. The recipe can be doubled.
